For these newly developed, woven paintings I was interested in exploring colors and their behavior in relation to distance. By using a rich variety of different types of yarn – for example matte, glossy, fine or coarse – I change the structure of each area without using a lot of different colors. As opposed to painting, weaving allows the viewer to see the different colors that are mixed into a new one and these can be distinguished separately. If you zoom in on the work you can see subtle changes in colour (a hint of blue or magenta) and structure, almost like pixels.
